As the founder, the CEO is the organization's president, but is not a voting member of the governing board.
The advisory board members are not voting members of the governing board. Rather, they serve as ambassadors, promoting ASTEC in the community and providing expertise and advice in several areas.
The board does not take complaints regarding employees or students. Those issues are handled at the school level according to the procedures and guidelines found in the Elementary School Parent/Scholar, Middle/High School Parent/Scholar, and Employee handbooks.
As a public school, ASTEC Charter Schools is required by law to have an annual, independent financial audit. Since its inception, ASTEC has boasted clean audits each year. Click here to view the audits from the last few years.
The governing board works closely with the school's foundation, The ASTEC Fund, Inc., a separate nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. Both entities are tax-exempt, and contributions to either entity are tax-deductible.
