Kindergarten Academics

Language Arts

Kindergarten Language Arts develops early reading and writing fluency through letter-sound knowledge, vocabulary, and comprehension. Scholars name and write all letters, identify beginning and ending sounds, and read high-frequency words such as the, I, and see. They listen to and discuss stories, describe characters and settings, and begin writing sentences using capitalization and punctuation. Daily reading and shared writing experiences foster a lifelong interest in books and learning.

Math

Kindergarten Mathematics deepens understanding of number relationships and geometric concepts. Scholars count to 100 by ones and tens, compare numbers, and create equal groups to build early addition and subtraction understanding. They identify coins, describe and extend repeating patterns, and use shapes to build composite figures. Through play and real-world exploration, scholars connect mathematical thinking to their environment.

Social Studies

Kindergarten Social Studies introduces scholars to fairness, responsibility, and respect for others. They learn the purpose of rules, identify the flag and Statue of Liberty as national symbols, and explain the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance. Scholars distinguish between needs and wants, identify basic directions on a map, and recognize holidays that honor important people and events. These studies strengthen civic awareness and social responsibility.

Science

Kindergarten Science cultivates curiosity about the physical and natural world. Scholars observe patterns in weather, describe how plants and animals meet their basic needs, and investigate how pushes and pulls affect motion. They explore cause and effect by comparing what happens when objects are moved with different amounts of force. Through drawing, conversation, and experimentation, scholars develop foundational inquiry and observation skills.
